Threat 1
The Charity Black Box
You calculate your Zakah down to the exact decimal. You find an emotional video online of children in need. You click donate. But what happens to your money next?
The harsh reality is that billions of dollars are pumped into the charity sector annually, yet funds are routinely diluted. Many well-meaning Muslims are completely unaware that their Zakah is being siphoned off by exorbitant “administrative fees” or hidden marketing costs.
Sometimes, your obligatory 2.5% is diverted to build general community infrastructure—like administrative offices or public wells—instead of being handed directly to the eight eligible categories defined by Allah.
Allah ﷻ explicitly warns us about mishandling our sacred duties:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَخُونُوا اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوا أَمَانَاتِكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know.
If an organisation is using your Zakah to pay for corporate retreats, bloated executive salaries, or vague “awareness campaigns,” your third pillar is in severe jeopardy.
Help us preserve the third pillar of Islam by funding our independent charity audits and educational hubs.
